Q & A by Shaykh Salih Al Fawzan What are the Suitable Books in Fiqh for the Beginners in Seeking Knowledge

Q & A What is suitable for the beginner in seeking knowledge that he can understand the Deen.

By Shaykh Salih bin Fawzan bin Abdillah al Fawzan

 Question:

What is suitable for the beginner in seeking knowledge, so that he can understand the Deen.

What are the books of fiqh (Jurisprudence) which  he begins with, may you be rewarded?

Answer:

That he needs a teacher, a teacher that is excellent (accurate) in fiqh. He studies from him fiqh, he ( the teacher) explains it to him. Now those who read only in books, this is not a correct direction for him, who takes from this way and that is much from the youths today. That they are students of books and notes only, and they go out to the people to teach, with their mistakes, and wrong understanding. Then they claim they are the Ulimaa (scholars).

It’s a must to stay in touch with the Ulimaa. Either in the institutes ( of learning) or universities or the schools that within it are taught the sciences of Shariah ( Islamic Law) or a Shaykh who teaches in the masjid.

Concerning those who merely read in books only with his self or they read to those who are ignorant or learning, this is wrong and harmful upon him and upon all the Muslims who they ask for fatwaa, and they give fatwaa to them ( from their wrong understanding with mistakes in it).
