From Shaykh Salih al Fawzan Question And Answer the Youth are Fascinated with Pseudos Scholars (Fake Shaykhs,Unqualified Personalities)
Question: Yes, the questioner says, what is ta’aalim (pretending to have knowledge) and what is your advice for young people who are fascinated by those who pretend to have knowledge?
Answer: Ta’aalim” is the claim of knowledge, claiming knowledge when one is not knowledgeable. The person claims to have knowledge but has not learned from scholars, only from books and reading. They do not have foundational Islamic science ( knowledge based) principles on which to build their knowledge, but rely on their own understanding and may make more mistakes than they are correct. This is the Muta’alim the Pseudos Scholar (fake Shaykh, unqalified person). They are a danger to themselves and a danger to others because they manipulate the religion of Allah Almighty.
If someone came out and said to people, “I am a doctor, I am a physician, I treat people,” and they did not have medical degrees, could they be trusted to treat people? Could they perform surgery and operate on people’s hearts? This is not possible! Because this is a danger. How can this Muta’alim the Pseudos Scholar (fake Shaykh, unqalified person) manipulate religion, which is more dangerous than manipulating bodies! They must fear Allah and not speak about Allah without knowledge. Allah has made speaking without knowledge about Him worse than associating partners with Him.
“My Lord has only prohibited immoralities – what is apparent of them and what is concealed – and sin, and oppression without right, and that you associate with Allah that for which He has not sent down authority, and that you say about Allah that which you do not know. “ Al Araaf verse 33.
These people must fear Allah and learn first before they speak. Yes.
