Since I’m getting questions from Brothers in New York which masjids will have secret Salatu Taraweeh in New York for them to gather in since there is a national ban in New York on gatherings in any place to prevent the spread of Coronavirus which is deadly.

Some brother asked since the lockdown

” Which masjids will be having secret salah Tarawaeeh? “

The answer to this is not simple but its a reality that many of us will have to face in New York.

One of the best answers is blunt to make your house a place of worship.

I know there will be some brothers who have good intentions but deadly actions. Will say

” Since there is a lockdown in New York and the masjids are closed, let me travel to another place where the ban is lifted or there is no ban on gathering to pray salatu Tawareeh”.

May Allah guide you Habibi (beloved). The Prophet Sallahu wa alayhi wa salam said:

Al-Bukhaari (5739) and Muslim (2219) narrated from ‘Abd ar-Rahmaan ibn ‘Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) say: “If you hear that it (the plague) is in a land, do not go there, and if it breaks out in a land where you are, do not leave, fleeing from it.”

Al-Bukhaari (3473) and Muslim (2218) narrated that Usaamah ibn Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “The plague is a calamity (or a punishment) that was sent upon the Children of Israel, or upon those who came before you. If you hear of it in some land, do not go there, and if it breaks out in a land where you are, do not leave, fleeing from it.”

So this means my brothers if there a breakout where you live and there is a lockdown on gatherings such as in New York due to Coronavirus. It’s not permissible for you to travel to another town or city or state that there is no outbreak or no ban to pray Salatu Tawareeh. Rather yet if you do so it will be sinful due to you spreading the disease to an area where there is no disease.

For those Imams and Masjids that are in areas that there is no outbreak of coronavirus or ban on gathering or lockdowns, you should not receive those Muslims from places where they are quarantine of Coronavirus because it can spread the diseases in that area.

It is known by doctors that there are people in New York that might have Coronavirus with no symptoms and spread to others who can get very sick.

If one says

“its Ramadaan and its Salatu Tawareeh there no pain in trying”.

Hadeeth: We set out on a journey. One of our people was hurt by a stone, that injured his head. He then had a sexual dream. He asked his fellow travelers: Do you find a concession for me to perform tayammum? They said: We do not find any concession for you while you can use water. He took a bath and died. When we came to the Prophet (ﷺ), the incident was reported to him. He said: They killed him, may Allah kill them! Could they not ask when they did not know? The cure for ignorance is inquiry. It was enough for him to perform tayammum and to pour some drops of water or bind a bandage over the wound (the narrator Musa was doubtful); then he should have wiped over it and washed the rest of his body.

Hadeeth graded Hasan by Shaykh al Banni, from Sunnah Abi Dawud.

Due to their ignorance, it caused the death of their brother. Do not let your ignorance be the cause of the death and suffering of others.
