Fasting is a shield [from wrongdoing and Hell]. If one of you happens to be fasting then he should avoid sexual relations with his wife [ spouse], and should avoid quarreling. If someone quarrels with him, let him say: ‘ I am fasting I am fasting two times.’  By Him whose hand is my soul the smell of the mouth of a fasting person is better in the sight of Allah than musk.” Saheeh al Bukharee and Muslim.

The Prophet sallahu wa alayhi wa salam said: ” There is a gate in Paradise called Ar- Rayaan and those who observe Saum [ fasting] will enter into it on the Day of Resurrection and none except them will enter through it. It will be said ‘ Where are those who used to observe Saum? They will get up, and none except them will enter through it. After their entry, the gate will be closed and nobody will enter through it. ” Agree upon

Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu reported that the Prophet sallahu wa alayhi wa salam said: ” Whoever fasts the month of Ramadan with faith, and seek Allah’s pleasure and rewards will have his sins forgiven. This Hadeeth is related by Ahmed and the compilers of the Sunnah [ also found in fiqhus-sunnah].
