Shaykh Salih al-Fawzan Animals are only killed for two Affairs

Animals are only killed for two affairs:

Either it is slaughter for consuming of food such as from the animals that are permissible to eat ( according to Islamic law).

Either euthanizes the animal (put down) due to fear it will harm you (kill you) to protect your self.

If the animals are not for consuming or fear to suffer a serious injury (or be killed) from the animal where it needs to be euthanasia it is not permissible to kill it. Because animals have the right to live and to cause harm by transgressing against animals is prohibited (in Islam).

This indicates the completeness of this Deen (way of Islam), the way of mercy, and the way of perfection, even with dealings with animals.
