Music is Vain Talk Explaining the Word
All praise is due to Allah, He alone we worship and He alone we seek help. We bear witness their no deity worthy of worship, except Allah, without associating rivals in worship with Him. We bear witness that Muhammad sallahu wa alayhi wa sallam is the slave and Messenger of Allah, and Peace and Blessing be upon him, and his followers and those who follow him after.
To proceed:
Allah the Most High said in Quran about Music:
“And of mankind is he who purchases idle talks (i.e. music, singing, etc.) to mislead (men) from the Path of Allah without knowledge, and takes it (the Path of Allah, or the Verses of the Qur’an) by way of mockery. For such there will be a humiliating torment (in the Hell-fire).:” surah Luqman verse 6 and 7.
Tafseer of this verse in Quran the meaning of Lahwa al Hadeeth (vain talk) :
It was said by Abu as–Sahbaa’a ‘ I asked ibn Masood (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding this verse he said ‘ By Allah He who there is no deity other than Him (who deserve worship) it is singing (music)’ he replied three times’.
Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said:
‘ He is the man who purchases the girl to sing to him all night and day.’
Ibn Umar may (Allah be pleased with him ) said:
Authenticated regarding ibn Umar may Allah be pleased with them two (his father Ameer Mumineen Umar) he said ‘ he is the singer’.
Ibn Qiyyam said:
” The one who listens (music/singing) from a strange woman or youth that keeps his moustache and do not grow his beard for it is from the biggest of the things that are haraamaat (plural for haram) and the most severe corruption in the Deen.”
He also said:
Regarding the singing (all type of music) that is is the ruqiyah (the cause and arousal) of fornication, the planting of hypocrisy (the beginning stages of it), the association of Shaytan, the drunkness of the intellect, the turning away from the Quran, the biggest from what turn one away from the Quran ; that it is speech that is false. For it is the server thing that turns oneself close to it and desiring it and what in it .
And he said: He is Diyaathah (the attribute of a pandering pimp) and whoever does it (singing) is a dayooth (pimp).’.
The Prophet sallahu wa alayhi wa salam said:
For there will be from my Ummah a group of people that will make permissible fornication, the wearing of silk (for men) and alcohol, and musical instrument, and for indeed will befall these people to put aside knowledge (be away from knowledge) it will flee (from them or )they flee from it. So a poor man will come to them for a need so they will say return tomorrow to us so Allah He will allow the night to pass on them, and Allah will take away from them knowledge (all together) and He will alter their figures into monkeys and pigs and they will remain like this until the day of judgement.
