Q: Text of the question: this questioner is saying:

It’s spread in recent time across the internet an article that the author of it decides that action is a condition for completing iman (faith). So what’s your advice related to this , and may Allah preserve you?

A: The first thing from this who’s the one saying this? Is it from the known good scholars? Or he is from the remaining of the people (laymen) or from the mutaalimeen (those who pretend to have knowledge, fake scholars, falsely educated etc. 1.). If it’s to be like that for there isn’t a point in his statement.

I don’t suspect one of the known good scholars shall say such a statement ever. Only those who will say this is a mutaalim (person who pretends to have knowledge or be a scholar), or the people who learned this creed, the creed of the Murji’ah (2.), and he goes about with this Murji’ah’s creed.(2.).

Concerning Ahul Sunnah wa Jamaah for they see that amal (action)  enters al iman (the faith). And that al iman is statement and action and belief, and it’s imperative of the three. If one of them is lost (or extracted) from the three for that it isn’t correct iman.

A statement of the tongue, and belief of the heart, and the action of the limb. So it doesn’t benefit action without belief, nor does it benefit belief without action, nor does it benefit action and belief without a statement of the tongue. It’s imperative all of this (of the three) and this is the correct iman, yes.

1. متعالم (Mutaalim)/ جمع  متعالمون  (plural Mutaalimoon) :   Those whom do not understand Allah’s Deen, intent be it that they read in the books and memorize a thing from the text but they do not understand the meanings of the text. They did not obtain it from the people of knowledge. So this path is harmful to him. Because knowledge is not taken from anyone except from the people of knowledge with obtaining knowledge from the scholars, generation after generation. Till Allah inherits the earth and all that on it (will be that way until the Day of Judgment). So from the foundation and fundamentals of learning that this affair is taken from the scholars who are Rabaniyoon (Ulimaa who are sound in knowledge and fear Allah) who are known for knowledge and which they inherit it from their Mashaykhs (scholars) and they pass the knowledge to their students and pass the inheritance (knowledge) out between them, till Allah inherits the Earth and what is on it (to the last days, the Day of Judgment; the End of Times). Taken from Shaykh Sallih al Fawzan lecture titled: From the Ethics of the Student of Knowledge

2. Murji’ah: Murji’ah say ” By doing actions complete your iman”

The Murji’ah are the followers of an ideological group which appeared at the end of the first century AH in Kufa. It was initially introduced by Hammaad Ibn Abi Sulaymaan.

The Arabic word ‘Murji’ah’ is a derivative of the Arabic infinitive  ’Irjaa’, which means ‘postponement’. The derivation of this verb in the infinitive was mentioned in the Quran [7: 111] where Allaah The Almighty Says (what means): ‘Arjihi wa akhaah,’ (what means): {Postpone [the matter of] him and his brother.} The word ‘Irjaa’’ could also mean ‘to give hope’.

This group is guilty of religious innovations and its name might have been derived from the first indication of the word that means ‘postponement’,  because they give Eemaan (faith) priority but postpone action, meaning, acts of worship and obedience to Allaah The Almighty.

The name might have also been derived from the second indication of the word that means ‘to give hope’. This is because it has been reported that their extremists maintained that acts of disobedience were meaningless as long as the person who did them was a believer; just as acts of obedience were fruitless as long as the person who did them was a disbeliever. Thereby, they gave disobedient believers the hope that they will still receive the reward from Allaah The Almighty.
