Shaykh Dr. Salih al Fawzan Question and Answer, Facing a Fire or Space Heater  in the Salah

Q:  Some of the people specifically with severe weather and cold conditions sometimes are compel to start a fire (to keep warm).  Perhaps this fire is in front of him in the Salah and it be in front of him space heater (or heating system to keep warm).  So he puts it in the direction of the Qilbah for Salah?

A:  The Ulimaaa (scholars of Islam) says and dislikes facing (for Salah)  a fire or if it’s a lamp so don’t face the fire by putting the fire in his way, rather he puts it on the side (prays with this fire or heater on the side of him or away from it). Nor  does he puts in his way (in front of him) because this resembles alMajoos (fire worshipers) those who worship the fire.
