All the praises is for Allah the Lord of the Worlds and peace and blessings be upon His Chosen Messenger Muhammad and upon his family and his companions all of them.

By the Student of Knowledge, Shaykh Abdurrahman Murad هداه الله

May Allah unite the Ummah during this “Season of Goodness” (the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah).
It was actually quite sad last year when we heard about the division caused in some areas of the Ummah…whereby people refused to follow ‘Saudi’. In reality, this is not a political issue…this is an issue of solidarity with our Huj’jaaj who are in Hajj. May Allah accept from them all and bless us in Dunya and Aakhirah. Ameen!
Here is a research that I did last year, Inshallah…it will work to alleviate any related issues.
May Allah bless you all…Ameen!

It is also worth quoting the opinion of some contemporary scholars who allow the taking of photographs but say that the pictures should not be kept: “The angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or pictures.” (See al-Sharh al-Mumti’, 2/198).

Regard to image-making by means of machines, i.e. cameras, there is a difference of opinion among the later scholars on this matter. Some of them forbid it and some of them allow it.

Many of the laymen of today do not know only but one view, and they deem it as the only view without doing proper research to see what are all views from ahul sunnah. Then they do not do so and deem any one who not on their view as wrong, but they forget they are a muqalid of their view. A Muqalid (blind follower of a view) can not force their view on another person.

A Muqalid (blind follower) and whoever not a scholar from the Muslims are muqallids; in other words, they simply follow the scholar they trust or feel at ease with in the issue, leaving it at that. Ibn Taymiyyah wrote:

‘Whoever adopts a view by being a muqallid to someone, cannot rebuke one who takes another view due to being a muqallid to someone else. But if one of them does have a conclusive shari‘ah proof, it is required to comply with it when it becomes known. It is not allowed for anyone to to say that one view is preferable to another, without proof; nor be biased to one opinion over another – or one person over another – without a definitive proof. Instead, one who is a muqallid is obliged to follow a qualified scholar: he cannot evaluate, weigh-up, or say something is right or wrong … As for someone who only knows the opinion of one scholar and his proofs, but does not know the other scholar’s opinion or proofs, he is from the generality of the muqallids. He is not of the scholars who are able to evaluate or weigh-up [proofs].’
