All the praises is for Allah the Lord of the Worlds and peace and blessings be upon His Chosen Messenger Muhammad and upon his family and his companions all of them.
By the Student of Knowledge, Shaykh Abdurrahman Murad هداه الله
Rule #1: YOU MUST ALWAYS HAVE YOUR BRO’S BACK.
The Prophet, may Allah praise him, said: “انصر أخاك ظالما أو مظلوما”. Meaning: “Support your brother, whether he be an oppressor or oppressed.” The Companions, may Allah be pleased with them, asked: “We know how to ‘have our brother’s back’ when he is oppressed, but how do we do that when he is oppressing?” The Prophet, may Allah praise him, said: “Prevent him from oppressing…that is how you have his back.” (Bukhari #6952)
Rule #2: A bro never comments on women. if someone good-looking passes by, he keeps ALL comments to himself and seeks refuge with Allah.
A true bro remembers the words of Allah: “Tell believing men to lower their gaze and protect themselves from doing evil, this is purer for them. Indeed Allah is aware of all that they do.” (Qur’an 24:19)
Rule #3: When a bro MAKES AN ‘indecent comment’ about a sister HE SHOULD BE TOLD ‘fear Allah’!
Allah, the Exalted, says: “Do not envy the worldly benefits We have given some of them.” (Qur’an 20:131)
And: “Do not gawk at the beauties of this Dunya that are bestowed upon some and do not grieve on account of that.” (Qur’an 15:88)
Rule #4: A bro doesn’t become jealous. He will NEVER screw up a bros marriage proposal. Jealousy breaks the bro code!
The Prophet, may Allah praise him, said: “It is sufficiently evil for a person to hate a bro out of jealousy and spite.” (Muslim #2564)
Rule #5: A true bro gives what he does his best shot. Bros must encourage each other to do the same.
The Prophet, may Allah praise him, said: “Indeed Allah loves that if you do something you give it your best shot.” (Sahih al-Jami #1880)
Rule #6: A true bro must be strong and man up.
Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said: “Be tough, resilient, patient and man up.” (Al-Iqtida 1/278)
Rule #7: A bro must always respect his faith, other bros, his family, his car, house, and especially his parents.
Respect is key to success.the universal rule states: ‘respect yourself, and you shall be respected.’
Rule #8: When a bro is showing his bros his new ride, he is to say:
‘ما شاء الله، هذا من فضل الله’
Meaning: all praise is due to Allah, this is of what Allah has bestowed upon me out of His grace. He doesn’t have bragging rights and shouldn’t show off…that’s forbidden and SIMPLY lame!
Rule #9: A bro will never ever leave his bros without a ride. At the very least, he must offer a ride, if it is turned down; you have done your part.
Common courtesy and the bro code go hand in hand.
Rule #10: A bro will never let his bro drive while its dangerous – Texting and driving warrant a slap.
Rule #11: A bro should never beg; if he is truly hard up for cash and he is offered some help, he should accept, as the Prophet, may Allah praise him, said: “Give gifts and you shall respectfully love each other more.” (Majma 4/4149)
A bro must never gather points on his bro to humiliate him down the road. If you give – GIVE AND FORGET.
A bros attitude who gives is always: “We don’t want any reward from you nor any thanks.” (Qur’an 76:9)
Rule #12: If a bro is terrible at sports, excuses may be made, no matter how bad they are. Good bros will start to play worse so that their bro doesn’t look so bad.
Rule #13: A bro will always ask around before taking the last of anything.
If a bro should ask you if its alright, unless the need is great or direct ownership is applied, you will let him have it.
Common courtesy and the bro code go hand in hand!
Rule #14: A bro should always be allowed to make amends for his actions and he should be given the benefit of the doubt.
Allah, the Exalted, says: “Indeed some suspicion is a sin. And do not spy on one another and do not backbite. Would any of you like to eat his dead brother’s flesh? No, you would hate it.” (Qur’an 49:12)
Rule #15: A bro will always do his best to help another bro’s self esteem.
The Alpha-Bro should always be handing out wisdom.
The Prophet, may Allah praise him, said: “When your bro seeks your advice, give him the best of advice.” (Muslim #2162)
Rule #16: When a promise is made, it shall be kept. And under no circumstances shall it be broken.
Breaking promises breaks the code.
The Prophet, may Allah praise him, said: “Whoever cheats us is not from us.” (Tabrani 8/189)
And he, may Allah praise him, said: “A sign of hypocrisy is to break one’s promises.” (Bukhari #33)
Rule #17: You must always show your bro love and be joyous when bro love is shown to you.
A Bro-mance is allowed but only among your tightest bros. Never take your bro-mance too far.
The Prophet, may Allah praise him, said: “Believers in their love, affection and care towards each OTHER are like a single body.” (Bukhari #6011)
And he said: “One of you will not truly believe unless they love for their brothers what they love for themselves.” (Majma 1/100)
Rule #18: Never refer to a bro by his last name; this is a sign of disrespect.
Rule #19: Always respect a bro’s viewpoints.
The only time a bro’s views do not matter is when they conflict with Islam.
If such a case should happen, the bro should be WARNED, IF HE INSISTS, HE SHOULD THEN BE immediately evicted from the bro circle, until correctional actions have been made.
Rule #20: A bro should always treat a fellow bro for food when he is broke.
Miserliness breaks the code.
Rule #21: All things must be forgiven among bros.
Allah, the Exalted, says: “Let them forgive and overlook. Do you not wish God to forgive you? God is forgiving and merciful.” (Qur’an 24:22)
Rule #22: You should only ever make fun of a bro for minor things that don’t affect his self-esteem.
If you’ve got something to say…say it in his face, not behind his back. Backbiting and rumor spreading break the code!
Rule #23: The Golden bro rule which embodies the pure awesomeness of bro love…
NEVER DITCH A BRO
This rule can only be waived when the bro code is violated.
With this, we come to the end of the BRO CODE. I ask Allah that it is a source of inspiration for our youth…Ameen!
