In the sister section of our Daily Reminders Salafi group, a sister from the Philippians asked a question, we had a chance for a Shaykh from Jazaair to answer her question.

Question:

Salam alaykum, somebody told me today that any woman whose in her iddah of morning due to her husband’s death should not transfer from her house to other accommodation.. is it permissible for her intention of hijrah (from her house to other place of accommodation to put Islam into practice)?

The Philippines is not an Islamic country, if a Muslim transfer from the place where she/he lived to the place where she/he can practice Islam. Is it considered as an  act of worship due to her/his intention?

Answer to the question about making Hijrah from dar kufr to dar al Islam while in the state of alihdaad ( an iddah {waiting period} of woman who husband died):

شيخنا بن حنفية العابدين و أجاب : إذا كان بقاؤها في المكان الذي هي فيه شاقٌّ عليها و لا يوجد من يُعِيلُها و يتكفَّل بها ، فلها أن تسافر. و إن كانت في راحة و لا تتضرَّرُ ببقائها فعليها أن تُتِمَّ عدتها في مكانها

By our Shaykh Hanafiya al-Abadeen answer:   If it be that she is staying in a place which in it is a hardship upon her, and she does not find any one to take care and support her. So it is for her to travel (make hijrah) and if she is traveling, for there no harm that she continues to travel for it is upon her to complete her iddah (mourning waiting period after death of husband) in the new place she is in.
