All the praises is for Allah the Lord of the Worlds and peace and blessings be upon His Chosen Messenger Muhammad and upon his family and his companions all of them.

Question:

What can we do for the victims in the latest round of attacks in Pakistan? These are among the most deadly…over 140 were killed besides those who were wounded…in’na lil’laahi wa in’na e’laihi ra’jioon.

Answer:

Its during times like this that many do request that Jinazah prayer be performed in absentia for them…so is this lawful?

a. Imam Ash-Shafi’ee and one of the views of Imam Ahmed indicate that it is lawful in general, and they used the story of an-Najashi to legalize the prayer in absentia in general.

b. Imam Abu Hanifah and Imam Malik may Allah have mercy on them both, viewed that praying on someone else was not allowed and was of the خصوصيات special traits of the Prophet, may Allah praise him.

c. Imam Ahmed, may Allah have mercy on him, allowed praying on someone who had passed away in a different land as long as that person was pious.

d. Ibn Taymiyyah and Ibn al-Qayyim, may Allah have mercy on them both, stated: “The strongest view here is that if a person has died in a country where no one has performed prayer on him, then in that case, the prayer can be offered on his behalf, as was the action of the Prophet, may Allah praise him, in relation to an-Najashi, may Allah be pleased with him, as he died among the non-Muslims and no one prayed on him. So in the situation where people have prayed on a deceased, then in that case, one shouldn’t offer the prayer again.”

This view is also supported by the actions of the four Khulafa, none of them prayed Jinazah on those who died in far off regions, because they were aware that they had been prayed upon already.

So what can we do? Make dua…and ask Allah…renew that link between yourself and Him. May Allah bless us all. Ameen!

Brothers and sisters…I went about my usual morning routine and was asked to check the news and SUBHANALLAH I was shocked to see this:

http://www.cbc.ca/…/taliban-attack-on-pakistan-school-leave…

This attack was claimed by the Tehreek-e-Taliban! In their minds, they must have justified this hideous attack and heinous crime with some odd interpretation or most likely through sheer stupidity and ignorance…SUBHANALLAH! Where are they from the words of Allah?

Allah, the Exalted, says: “But whoever kills a believer intentionally – his recompense is Hell, wherein he will abide eternally, and Allah has become angry with him and has cursed him and has prepared for him a grave punishment.” (Quran 4:93)

And:

Allah, the Exalted, says: “He commands you to deal kindly and justly with anyone who has not fought you on account of your faith or driven you out of your homes: God loves the just.” (Qur’an 60:8)

WHERE ARE THESE BRUTAL ATTACKERS FROM THESE VERSES OF THE QUR’AN AND OTHERS LIKE IT?

I ask Allah to grant Jannah to those innocent lives that were lost in this massacre, and to punish severely those killers who killed them. Ameen!

We seek refuge with Allah from ‘compound’ ignorance. Ameen!
