All the praises is for Allah the Lord of the Worlds and peace and blessings be upon His Chosen Messenger Muhammad and upon his family and his companions all of them.

Question:

What if you need to feed a child who insists to sit in your lap, and its hard to sit in the Sunnah way? Can you sit in the position as crossed legs? Will that impact the child as you are unable to fed him by sitting according to the Sunnah?

Answer:

Sitting in the commendable manner (not cross legged) is a virtuous deed, but if you genuinely cannot do it, or find great difficulty in it, you can sit in a manner that would be more comfortable for you, such as in a chair.
Now feeding your child is a different story, as you are not yourself, eating…(I hope you won’t be taking a bite of the baby food for yourself!)…so in this scenario, you are ok to feed your child while he/she is sitting in your lap.
