Question:

SOTH Durban/Johannesburg: What is the ruling for a person who commits Zina? Also, what must be done or read to cleanse oneself from Zina? Shukran

Answer:

Alhamdulilah, Alhamdulilah, ALHAMDUILILAH that we are from the Ummah of Muhammad, may Allah praise him! Allah Akbar!
Brothers and sisters, indeed our Prophet is Nabi yur-Rahmah…the Prophet of Mercy! Allah deals with us in relation to His Mercy…and were it not for that mercy, no one of us would enter Jannah!
The Companions, may Allah be pleased with them all, said: “O Messenger of Allah, even you! Will you as well only enter Jannah on account of the mercy of Allah?”
He said, ‘Even I…I will not enter Jannah except on account of the mercy of Allah!’
If that is known, brothers and sisters in spite of all the sin that you may have done, never lose hope!
Allah, the Exalted, says: “Say, “O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.” (39:53)

Never think that your life is over…never think that this is the end…don’t let Satan fool you or confuse you.
The beauty is, even if you fall down, you can always get up again and start stronger! Look at the Companions…the best of all generations and people…what were they like before Islam?
You don’t want to know, nor should you care…what is important is how they strived after Islam.
Heed this, and if you fall, once twice or even more, stand up, stand tall…strive and Allah will encompass you with His mercy.
Brother/sister…if you have committed this sin, all you must do is repent to Allah, (O Allah forgive me) say it while you mean it, feel sorrowful for what you have done and promise to Allah never to return…as well try your best to avoid what led you to that sin initially! Allah says: “Indeed good deeds efface evil ones!”

May Allah bless us all and make us strong Muslims! Ameen
