Q&A Is Fixing a ‘ Uni-Brow” Lawful

All the praises is for Allah the Lord of the Worlds and peace and blessings be upon His Chosen Messenger Muhammad and upon his family and his companions all of them.

Question:

Is fixing a ‘uni-brow’ lawful?
Answer:

From what I understand, this question pertains to removing hair between the natural eyebrows. This issue to an extent is governed by the linguistic meaning of the word ‘Nams’ (threading/plucking). In the authentic Hadeeth, the Prophet, may Allah praise him, said: “Allah curses one who threads/plucks and one whom it is done to.”
So what does ‘Nams’ (threading/plucking) include? The scholars are at variance…
The first view is that it applies only to the eyebrows.
The second view is that it refers to the removal of ALL facial hair.

The view I personally see to be stronger based on the linguistic meaning of the word is that ‘Nams’ refers to the eyebrows; as for what is in between the eyebrows is not part of the eyebrow, but of the ‘broader’ facial hair. This view is taken by the Permanent Committee and a large number of scholars, may Allah have mercy on them and preserve them. Ameen!

Sh. Ibn Othaimin, may Allah have mercy on him, took by the second view, and thus if he were asked, he would state that one shouldn’t remove the hair of a unibrow.
May Allah grant us all success in this life and in the next. Ameen
