Common Question Can Sisters Wear Pants

Question:

Can women wear jeans/pants/trousers?
Answer:

I’ve received no less than 10 questions on the issue…the general, straightforward answer is that a sister should NOT wear what is tight-fitting or descriptive of her body.
What does this mean?
Simply put, the clothing shouldn’t appear to be painted or near to it! This would then prohibit the low-rise, contour, stretch, skinny and similar fashions.
As for that which is loose-fitting, baggy, over which a loose, larger blouse is worn, this would be ok. In general, whatever a brother or sister wears should be in conformity to the conditions of Islamic clothing.
Our clothes should not be a mere ‘fashion statement’, in fact, conforming with the Islamic guidelines of dress is an act of worship! May Allah bless us all and grant us reward for adhering to the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet, may Allah praise him! Ameen!
